I have examined the accompanying Ordinance intituled

An Ordinance to amend further the Summary Offences Ordinance,

and 1 am of opinion that the Ordinance is one

which is not contrary to the

1845,

Governor's Instructions.

The object of the Ordinance is to make various amendments in

the Summary Offences Ordinance, 1845. Many of these amendments have

been under contemplation for a considerable time and have only been

awaiting a favourable opportunity for their introduction.

Section 2 transfers to the interpretation section the defini-

tion of public place which formerly appeared in section 11 a of the
